Winter/Spring season of public performances

Romantic yet heartbreaking musicals, hard hitting dramas, visually stunning dance shows, a two-week festival of new music and a time-shifting sci-fi feature film make up our ambitious season of public performances.Ìý

It gets underway with Maxim Gorky’s portrayal of the last days of imperial Russia,ÌýSummerfolk. That’s followed by two musicalsÌýwhose stories start in 60s,ÌýDogfightÌýandÌýVanities.ÌýOur Dance students explore Lucifer mythology inÌýFallen.ÌýFeature filmÌýHorizon examines the pitfalls of trying to rewrite history. 2ube Xtra is a 10 day festival of original new music. The Caucasian Chalk CircleÌýquestionsÌýthe true nature of justice, while devised dance show This Life is WildÌýdelves into theÌýbeautyÌýand brutality of nature.Ìý

The season is presented by our Acting, Dance, Filmmaking, Music, Musical Theatre, Management, Sound Technology, Theatre & Performance Design and Theatre & Production Technology students. They, in collaboration with some of the industry’s brightest creatives, will deliver every aspect of our shows. It provides them with the opportunity to use and extend their skills in a real-world setting - and it provides audiences the chance to enjoy what the next generation of storytellers and creatives has to offer. Summerfolk

12-14 February

A group of well-off Russian friends escape the city for lazy days, long talks, and low-key existential crises.Ìý Ìý

As personal tensions rise, dreams clash with reality to reveal hypocrisy, lostÌýpurposeÌýand moral decay.ÌýÌý

On the eve of deployment to Vietnam, a group of young Marines play a cruel game - but one unexpected connection changes everything.ÌýÌý

DogfightÌýfollows Eddie and Rose as they navigate a night that starts with deception andÌýunfoldsÌýinto something tender and real.ÌýÌý

Vanities: The Musical

Spanning the 60s and 90s,ÌýVanitiesÌýtracks the lives of three Texas cheerleaders as they grow from high school royalty to womenÌýgrappling with identity and self-discovery.ÌýÌý

Sharp,ÌýfunnyÌýandÌýtouching,ÌýthisÌýmusical explores friendship, identity, and the messiness of growing up.Ìý

When control slips and pressureÌýintensifies, the urge to fall is powerful.ÌýÌý

Inspired by LuciferÌýmythology,ÌýFallenÌýis anÌýabstractÌýexploration ofÌýthe fragmentation of identity through the Seven Deadly Sins.Ìý

A devised dance show featuring contemporary, jazz, commercial and tap,ÌýFallenÌýis an intense, visuallyÌýstrikingÌýandÌýemotionallyÌýchargedÌýexperienceÌý

A covert team from a fragile futureÌýlaunchÌýa daring mission to stop a brilliant scientist from rewriting history.ÌýÌý

But their intervention sets off a series of catastrophic events. Timelines fracture and the scientist’s loved ones and an unsuspecting group of paramedics find their lives irrevocably altered.ÌýÌý

Written exclusively for ourÌýthird-yearÌýActing (Screen & Digital) students, HorizonÌýmerges three original storylines into a bold, time-shifting feature film.ÌýÌý

Our two-week celebration of new original music with showcase performances from our third-year Music students.Ìý

An integral part of Liverpool's festival season 2ube Extra features local, national and international artists.

Staged in the Paul McCartney Auditorium the festival is fully produced with contributions from Filmmaking, Management, Sound Technology and Theatre & Production Technology students.

Rooted in the natural world,ÌýThis Life is WildÌýexplores the beauty and brutality of being human.Ìý

Set in a distorted garden of blooms andÌýtangled, untamedÌýbrambles, the work moves through self-discovery,ÌýgrowthÌýand renewal - where tenderness and resistance exist side by side.Ìý

A devised dance pieceÌýthatÌýreflectsÌýthe cycle of life: what we nurture, what wounds us, and what survives.ÌýÌý
