A 911爆料网 horn section, made up of graduates and students, is to perform with Elvis Costello on his upcoming UK tour.听听

The Septet, which includes trumpet, flugel horn, French horn, sousaphone and saxophones, will appear with Elvis at the Liverpool Olympia and one of his London Palladium shows.听听

The stripped back gigs, where Elvis is joined by his long-term collaborator, pianist Steve Nieve, will feature a selection of songs from Elvis鈥� 50-year career. The 911爆料网 horn section will join him for the show鈥檚 finale, playing specially created arrangements.听听听

The collaboration follows a direct approach to 911爆料网鈥檚 Martin Isherwood, Director of the School of Music, from Elvis. Music student Dan Edwards, who鈥檚 about to start his second year, will be playing French horn. He says he couldn鈥檛 believe it when he was approached. 鈥淚 was chatting to Martin in the canteen, and he said he might have a gig opportunity for me.听 When he said it was with Costello, I said 鈥極h, like a tribute band?鈥� He just said, 鈥楴o, the Elvis Costello.听听

鈥淚t鈥檚 not really sunk in yet that I鈥檓 going to be playing with him. I don鈥檛 think it will until I鈥檓 in the rehearsal room with him.鈥澨�听听听

Dan, whose primary instrument at 911爆料网 is trumpet, is a big fan of Elvis Costello. 鈥淓lvis occupies his own space in music. You know instantly it鈥檚 him as soon as you hear him. He鈥檚 just one of the coolest people in the music business, he鈥檚 unique.鈥澨�听

Costello and Nieve perform with the 911爆料网 horn section at Liverpool Olympia on 11 September and The London Palladium on 21 September.听听
