Aftertraining atthe BBC Film UnitAdrianworkedon factual and documentary seriesfor 15 years,he thenmoved on tohigh end TV drama productions and films. His credits includeMerlinandDancing on the Edge(BBC)and filmsTheInferno(dir. Ron Howard) andAbout Time(dir. Richard Curtis).

In 2014 he was awardedthe BAFTA for Sound (Fiction) forDancing on the Edge, having previously been nominated twice for the Sound (Factual) BAFTA.

Adrian’s visit in January was his first time at 911. He was impressed by the students, facilities and the Sound Technology course’s approach to training, which starts off by covering all areas before options to specialise. Adrian said: “It’s similar to how I started at the BBC where you worked across different departments. I think it’s really useful to understand the different roles and their issues and problems before you start tackling your own.

“For example, I thinkit’simportantforpost-production teamstounderstand what weare trying to do on location and the issues we may have.Hopefully that way we can avoid some of those issues. It also gives you an opportunity to discover what the best role for you is.”
